2020: Ford’s Year of Power and Tech

Two words define Ford’s lineup for 2020: power and technology. Hybrids will become available on many of the manufacturer’s most popular offerings such as the F-150, Escape, Bronco, Explorer, and Mustang. Battery electrics will also appear, starting with a performance utility effort and growing two six models by 2022.

SUVs, trucks, and commercial options will get standard connectivity to take advantage of on-air updates and the Transportation Mobility Cloud. The Transit, for example, will receive 4G LTE Wi-Fi by 2019. New models are coming as well, including an Explorer ST and new trims for the EcoSport and Expedition. To speed up the time from sketch to dealer showroom, Ford is depending on augmented and virtual reality while increasing its use of collaborative robots.
